Berlin DJ, label owner, and artist manager Sascha Braemer unveiled an exhilarating remix of English musician Jasper Sommer’s track, ‘Memento’, on August 9, 2024. Sascha is a prominent figure in the German electronic music scene, and has carved out an esteemed career as a DJ and producer. Braemer’s journey began in the early 2000s, and he’s celebrated for his distinct style that blends deep house, tech house, and techno influences into a sonic tapestry. Sascha has been featured in renowned publications like Mixmag, Resident Advisor, DJ Mag, and XLR8R, while his productions are characterised by infectious rhythms and emotive melodies, earning him recognition on labels such as Katermukke and Stil vor Talent.
The original track is the titular track of musician, producer, and singer-songwriter Jasper Sommer’s genre-fluid EP, Memento, released earlier this year via EFG Records Oy. He’s received support from the likes of Mixmag, COMPLEX UK and CLASH Magazine, with comparisons drawn to Four Tet and James Blake. The song features a catchy earworm hook while still retaining Jasper’s signature moody sound. His husky, languid vocals deliver lyrics exploring an emotional kaleidoscope of alienation, destiny, attachment, loneliness and happiness.
