Melodic-techno giant HEVI LEVI has returned with yet another hypnotic single, ‘Don’t You Want’, released on the 30th of November via his own record label Joy Group. The track is the Israeli producer’s own interpretation of the 90’s hit, ‘Don’t You Want Me’, by British House producer Felix. The accompanying music video features visual artist Nora Solomon painting a piece to the song. HEVI LEVI has performed in underground clubs and at some of the biggest music festivals around the world, namely Tomorrowland, Laundry Day and Escape to name but a few. He’s also received international support from publications such as Mixmag Brasil and many more. In addition to this, his music has received significant airtime on esteemed programmes such as BBC Radio 6‘s Nemone sitting in for Mary Anne Hobbs. Inspired by greats such as Faithless, Depeche Mode, and Rüfüs Du Sol, his musical style is reminiscent of artists like Kevin de Vries, ARTBAT, and Saint Vie.
‘Don’t You Want’ features a fabulous pulsating percussive rhythm over a four-on-the-floor beat with a deep, bouncing bassline akin to the likes of ARTBAT and Moonwalk. Synths swim hypnotically in the mix, which features bubbling, arpeggiated sequences, acid stabs and echoey chords swirling around the stereo image. The original song’s iconic vocal sample dances in and out of the fray, leaving an eddy of delay in its wake. The track is unpredictable, engaging and entrancing, not settling into a single groove for too long. Masterfully produced, ‘Don’t You Want’ merges the darker elements of techno with the danceability and mainstream appeal of house music, with a touch of trance – it is rave-ready, begging to be played on a massive sound system.
HEVI LEVI commented: “When I was a beginner DJ and young, I was always captivated by a track called ‘Don’t You Want Me’ by Felix. So I decided that I am going to bring it back to life with a 2023 version with my own sound and vibe.”
